This Tuesday was an ultra exciting day on television. We were graced with the mid-season premiere of Pretty Little Liars – with the intriguing #5YearsForward jump – and the series premiere of Shadowhunters, the new series based on Cassandra Clare’s book series The Mortal Instruments. Obviously we are obsessed with both of these fandoms and as the good fangirls we are, we’re dedicating an entire week to discussing these thrilling television debuts. Welcome to PLL/Shadowhunters Week on My Fangirl Life!
Wow, was last night ever a whirlwind! We were able to catch the first two episodes of Shadowhunters as well as the premiere of Pretty Little Liars 5 Years Forward. While I enjoyed both of these, I am going to focus on PLL today, as you probably guessed from the title of this post. This episode felt like it could practically be a brand new show. We were left trying to figure out exactly what had happened in the past 5 years (other than the moms getting out of the basement… we did finally get confirmation on that), and each of the Liars had new identities to introduce. Basically, I think the possibilities are endless, so I decided to sit down and hash a few out. Here are my Big Predictions for Pretty Little Liars 5 Years Forward.
Please note that I wrote this post after watching the new episode, “Of Late I Think of Rosewood”, so there may by slight spoilers in here… but mostly this is all about my imagination.
Some of these predictions are likely and some not so much, but all would be awesome if they happened. Here we go!
Prediction #1 – It will turn out that Toby is building the house for Emily’s mom
Because they’re together, of course. Did anyone noticed how Emily’s mom (whose name I still haven’t bothered to remember) just avoided the question about her boyfriend? I’m choosing to believe it’s because she’s with Toby now. So scandalous!
Prediction #2 – Aria will fix Ezra
Obviously… because it’s The Greatest Love Story Ever Told and they’re meant to be together. I don’t care about Aria’s current boyfriend. He’s probably lame anyways. Poor, broken Ezra though! He looks rough. Not sure I can handle him like this…
Prediction #3 – Immediately afterwards, Ezra’s girlfriend will return
We’ll find out that she was never actually kidnapped – she joined the South American revolutionaries and returns as their leader to bring Ezra into the fold, for some reason or another. Drama, right?
Prediction #4 – Spencer and Caleb 4eva
Because they’re clearly a thing… a thing that our team is so excited about! Do they have a couple name yet? Spaleb? Cancer? Oops… Oh man, we better work on that. Seriously though, who else was cheering when there were subtle mentions about Spencer and Caleb’s potential relationship… especially after Spencer told the girls she was too busy to date anyone? I smell drama!
Prediction #5 – Hanna will try to get Caleb back
Obviously she still feels something for him, even though she’s now engaged. She’ll be pretty pissed when she finds out Caleb is taken by Spencer. But seriously, how can she not see that they are perfect for one another?
Prediction #6 – Hanna’s fiancé will turn out to have been “A” all along
What was his name? Trevor? Travis? It doesn’t matter because how random and unexpected would that be?
Prediction #7 – Charlotte will actually be dead, for reals
We want the Big Bad to be someone that was pulling her strings the whole time. Plus someone staying dead is actually more of a shocker on this show than the person coming back to life (I’m looking at you Ali, Mona, Sara, etc).
Prediction #8 – The Liars will start getting messages again
Except for Spencer, because she’s the only one who is smart enough to have an unlisted number. Plus she’s with Caleb now and he’s a computer genius who will have other brilliant ideas from stopping A in their tracks. “A” will have to come up with another way to get to her.
Prediction #9 – The new messages will instead by signed by “B”
Aw man, all of “A”‘s genius marketing over the past several years will be out the window with this name change. But perhaps it’s time for a bit of a rebrand, and a whole new plan. Who knows what shenanigans “B” could take part in, being Bigger and Badder than “A” ever was.
