As your resident T-Swift expert, I figured I should probably address this awesome announcement: Did you hear that Ryan Adams is releasing a 1989 cover album? I can’t believe I missed the original announcement about this back in August, but the album itself is coming out next week. This on the tails of the release of the new song by Joe Jonas’s band. What a week for (fangirl) music!
I cannot wait for this. 1989 was my life soundtrack from the moment it was released, and I am excited to see what this re-imagining will be like. Ryan Adams is known for playing covers of well-known songs both in concert and on his albums, and it’s cool to see that he’s such a huge fan of Tay-Tay that he would want to do her entire album. I mean, I guess, who wouldn’t? It’s only, like, the biggest album ever (says the hardcore Taylor Swift fangirl).
On a personal note, I am excited that I will be able to listen to 1989 for the first time all over again. It might not quite be the same as that night I downloaded “Out of the Woods” at midnight and laid in bed listening to it on repeat for an hour and a half, but hey, I can try to recreate some of that magic.
Yesterday Adams released a sneak peek of his version of “Bad Blood”, which you can check out here:
I love the alternative edge given to this version of the song and I hope the rest of the tracks on the album are as fun and different and beautiful as this one is. I’m glad I’m here to count down until release with all of you.
The album is currently available on pre-order from the iTunes Store and will be dropping on Monday, September 21, 2015. Come back here to listen along with us when it does – I’m sure we’ll have something to say!
