Last year I wrote a My Fangirl Life Naughty and Nice list 2014, and I’m going to reprise that for you today. It’s the time of year where Santa is busy packing his sleigh and finalizing his lists. We’re doing the same here – who was naughty in 2015 and who was nice? Keep reading to check out the 2015 version of the My Fangirl Life Naughty and Nice List!
Disney is on the Nice List this year for a few reasons. The most obvious one is for gracing us with the fabulous new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out Kris’s spoiler-free review of it here as a preparation for all the feels you will feel when watching it. The second reason Disney is included here is because our team visited Disney World in Florida this year and boy, do they do theme parks right. If you want to read more of our Disney content, you can check it all out here.
Adele returned to us this year, breaking tons of records in the process. This, of course, landed her squarely on the Nice List. Plus she just seems like a total class act… though a heartbroken one at all times.
Ben was possibly the dreamiest participant ever on The Bachelorette, and I just can’t wait to see him as The Bachelor. Here’s hoping he maintains his cool, calm, rational, and total dreamboat demeanor throughout the 2016 season.
Justine is on the Nice List this year because she’s nice… but mostly because she got Kris and I this awesome cardboard cutout of Harry Styles for Christmas. Speaking of which, the next entry on the Nice List belongs to:

Now let’s see who’s been naughty this year…
Even though our Harry Styles cardboard cutout is on the Nice List, One Direction is on the Naughty side! Don’t get me wrong… I love these boys. But releasing their best album yet and then almost immediately going on hiatus? Not cool, guys. I know you needed a break but it’s still not cool.
And on top of that, Louis Tomlinson gets his very own entry on this list for knocking a girl up this year. That is definitely naughty.
I’m sure you’ve all heard about Derek Shepherd by now, but if you haven’t, I won’t spoil it for you… All I’ll say is that Ms. Rhimes is certainly on the Naughty List this year.
Anyone who spoils Star Wars: The Force Awakens for anyone gets pushed straight to the top of the Naughty List. So don’t do it!
Disney was on the Nice List above (and deservedly so), but they’re also on the Naughty List for another reason – keeping the Disney Princes locked away! You can read more about that here. Do you want to join our #FreeThePrinces campaign?
No spoilers… TV Stannis knows what he did….and Nook Stannis would be shocked & appalled.
One of few repeat inclusions from last year, this one was just so warranted. Last year we were on the heels of Once Upon A Time WHHHYYYYY???!?!!!!??!?!???!?!? and this year we just experienced another tragic OUAT midseason finale. You better make it up to us in the second half, writers… Will you ever get off of our Naughty List?

Once Upon a Time is back tonight!!!! Huzzah! If you are anything like me you have been halfheartedly schlepping through life during its hiatus, wondering why you are even bothering to be awake. But it is time to rise from your brain-dead slumber & re-engage. Emma is the Dark One. Henry is the Author. And Hook is as handsome as ever! Bring on the OUAT drama. To celebrate I thought I’d take a look at the OUAT hunks and decide which of them are Undateable. Each man will receive a letter grade as a boyfriend and a Feels Rating out of 10 for how your relationship with him would go.
I’ve made the executive decision to only include those who are still alive (RIP Graham ?), aren’t children (Henry is growing up but he’s not that grown up yet) and don’t threaten to turn back into a child at any minute (I’ve been burned by you before August, turning into a child when all the other hunks were dying on me). Those restrictions limit the number of hunky men a surprising amount…
Prince Charming / David Nolan
Charming is one of those “too good to be true” types. He is nice and safe and secure. He will buy you flowers, make you dinner, kiss you every morning before work & every night before bed, and generally treat you right. There is no argument against him… except that when you compare him to literally any other OUAT man he is sleep-inducingly boring. A boring goody-two-shoes who has only has adventures because they were thrust upon him. If stable is your thing, this is your man. If you want some drama & excitement, then keep reading or be sucked into an unfulfilled love where you grow to resent your partner for holding you down in one spot forever. After all, he “will always find you”.
Boyfriend Rating: A (1 point deducted for being boring)

Knave of Hearts / Will Scarlett
If you watched Once Upon a Time in Wonderland you were treated to a taste of how devoted Will Scarlett can be. He wanted no one but his true love. He’d do anything for her, including forgiving a lot of bullshit. Inevitably you’d start acting out, pushing him to see his limits; the great thing about Will is that he would push right back. There’d be an ebb-and-flow to your relationship that with time would settle into a natural give & take. Basically what I’m saying is that I think Mr. Scarlett would make a dashing boyfriend, willing to take you on adventures and work through your issues… but then again, he’s mysteriously appeared in Storybrooke sans-Anastasia so perhaps we shouldn’t trust in his desire for a ‘happily ever after’ too much.

If the recent plotlines of Once Upon a Time are any indication, a relationship with Robin will not be easy. But it’s not his fault. Frankly Robin is devoted and sweet. He’s honourable and adamantly follows his sense of duty. That’s the problem though. In a world where villains are constantly throwing evils schemes your way you can’t always play by the rules. However, you will stick with Robin through thick & thin because he is the kind of man you could search your whole life for!
Boyfriend Rating: A-

Rumplestiltskin / Mr Gold
This is a case where the split personality matters. Mr. Gold was quite devoted to Belle, while Rumple was horrible to everyone, including his own family. If you are venturing into this relationship, be absolutely sure you have the human – not the crocodile. That being said, even the lesser of two evils is still evil. You will try to get close to him but he will continue to choose his nefarious plots over you time-and-time-again. We watched it unfold on our screens with Belle. Don’t think it would be any different with you. Perhaps if you were interested in giving the dark side a try though it might be another story… we haven’t seen how Rumple would react to a partner in crime.

Hook / Killian Jones
Your relationship with Hook might have a bit of a slower start than with some of the other men of Storybrooke. His sordid past is definitely a concern. A dastardly pirate? That doesn’t sound like the ideal companion… but he’s just so charming & roguishly handsome! Plus he seems to genuinely want to change for you. No, not change. He wants to re-find himself. Re-find Killian, the nice guy who wants to treat a lady right. As soon as you give in to your temptations the passion will build into an undeniable love… or at least that’s how it goes in my imagination…

It’s time for a few new Disneybounding outfits! The ladies of My Fangirl Life recently took at trip to Disney World. While there we made it a goal to Disneybound every day. We picked a new theme and individualized characters each day and ran about recreating scenes and posing for oodles of photographs. Today I want to tell you about our most nefarious outfits: Villain’s Day!
But first here’s a quick Disneybound description from an earlier post:
Well reader, Disneybound is a popular trend started by blogger Leslie Kay. It’s well known that, while children could dress up as any character they chose, adults are not allowed to enter Disney theme parks in costume. It’s understandable. What if you’re a cosplay master & your costume is so good that visitors mistake you for a Disney Cast Member (aka employee)? And then you do something rude, inappropriate or uncouth? That would reflect poorly on the park…and Disney is all about their image! Kay found a fun way to follow the rules but still get in the Disney spirit; she created outfits made from everyday clothes but were inspired by Disney characters. Instead of making Cinderella’s dress you just pull something pretty & blue out of your closet & go! It allows you to channel the spirit of your favourite princess/hero/villain/sidekick/etc while still dressed in something that is comfortable, flattering & in your style. It’s basically closet cosplay but Disney-fied!
Now on to the styles…
Despite being the most princess-like member of our team, Justine Disneybounded the most villains on our trip. (For those of you interested, KG is our resident hero and I’ve been voted ‘Most Likely to Become a Super-Villain‘). First she was the Queen of Hearts on Wonderland Day, then Prince Hans on Frozen Day, and finally Jafar on Villains Day. I guess it’s fun playing the bad guy when you don’t have to worry about it tempting you to the dark side ?
To achieve her Jafar-esque look she concentrated on a red & black color palette, with touches of glittering gold. Her lacy black dress projected an air of sexy mystery, that I think Jafar might exude in real life…were he not giving you total crazy eyes. Her red blazer told everyone she meant business. She was not messing around; she would get into the Cave of Wonders. The feathered necklace was reminiscent of Jafar’s feathered head-dress and her slinky snake accessory (names Meredith Havoc by KG & Kris respectively) was an easier-to-transport version of his staff.
Hide your puppies. After finding her inner demons as Ursula on Little Mermaid Day KG channeled her inner Cruella De Vil. This outfit was a pretty dead-on modern-day Cruella, in my opinion, minus the massive fur coat she’s sporting on Once Upon a Time.
Starting with a basic black dress (a villainous staple piece) she added a white blazer instead of the classic fur. Even though it was winter in Orlando, us northerners would have overheated in fur. Her accessories brought the look together. Lots of black, white & red. Some bling. And, of course, dalmatian print. She had to scour the internet for a dalmatian-print bag, but found the perfect one. And her scarf featured a print of full dalmatian dogs sitting at attention.
Despite being our resident villain Hook was the only villain I Disneybounded. (Unless you count being a Slytherin, then Death Eater at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter…which probably counts.) This meant that I had to channel all of my badass evilness into this one outfit.
Let me say, as Hook I felt FABULOUS. With Once Upon a Time and the upcoming Pan movie, Hook is starting to be seen as a rather dreamy, leather-clad, stylish character…so that’s the direction I took my outfit. I wore a loose white crop top tucked into my black high-waisted disco pants. On my feet I put brown ankle boots (because Hook should only wear boots) and on my head I placed a gigantic, floppy, black hat (with skull-and-crossbones pin). My pirate-ship necklace & crocodile ring were pretty Captain Hook-esque, but what really gave my disneybound away was the long red coat. How sweet is that coat? Arrrrr Mateys.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Fanboys & Fangirls!
It is the day of love and hopefully all of you are doing something special with your someone special. Or maybe you’re pathologically single, like myself, and instead choose to focus your romantic energies on fictional characters. That’s a totally healthy choice, right? And a good use of my time? Yesterday KG summarized our real life OTPs (the real people we believe NEED to be spending St. Valentine’s Day together). Today we are going to go even more fictitious and match up all of our favourite book/movie/tv/etc characters with their meant-to-be’s. But perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself… first I should probably ask if you know what an OTP is?
If you do, then congratulations; you are awesome. If you don’t, the The Fangirl Glossary: The Basics post we did last year will help get you up to Level Awesome:
OTP (noun) “One True Pairing” The pairing you believe in above all others, regardless of canon or the opinion of the masses. You would be be willing to sink with this “ship.”
Seeing as our three main My Fangirl Life contributors are very different people it would have been impossible for us to come to a Top 10 OTPs consensus. Instead we each compiled a list of the pairs that mean the most to us in the whole world. Some ships are cannon. Some ships are not. Some ships end up getting their happily-ever-after. Some ships sink to the bottom of the ocean only to be discovered 73 years later by searching scientists (see Justine’s list for that one). And some of our ships aren’t even from the same fandom. But all are so perfect it hurts.

Perfection!

It took my a while to decide on my Harry Potter OTP and then I realized I didn’t have to choose one; this love triangle is everything I love. I think Lily and James deserve a happy ending, they’re perfect. The fact they came together and became such a symbol is amazing. But saying that makes me feel incredibly bad for Snape. Why couldn’t he get his happy ending? It’s because James and Lily were one of those great loves where the two heroes find each other. However, that shouldn’t take away from how much Snape loved Lily. Lily never loved him back in that way, perhaps she may have with time. But that’s what I love most, the tragedy of the story. Snape became a hero in time, Lily just didn’t get to see it.
5. Anne Boleyn & King Henry VIII
This is partially based on The Tudors and partially historically based. Anne Boleyn is one of my favourite historical figures and Natalie Dormer as Anne solidified this pairing. The two of them are sexy and smart and she challenges Henry VIII, everything a royal couple should be. Unfortunately we don’t get that happily ever after. I was mad about this for the two final seasons of The Tudors and even still after 479 years.

My ship was broken. But it only took a handful of episodes for me to realize I totally ship Twelve and Clara. That is why this is The Doctor and Clara. I love a Clara to pieces and I love how she was his Impossible Girl and I love what their relationship has grown into. Just love it!

I have been obsessed with personality types lately. I’ve always found Myers-Briggs classifications helpful for understanding myself and others, but lately I’ve found myself forcing tests on everyone I know & the results dominating conversations. And since this blog is a place where I can discuss whatever I am currently obsessing over, let’s tackle this topic… with a fangirl twist of course!
For those of you who don’t know what Myers-Briggs is, allow me to explain… In the 1940’s two super smart women (a mother-daughter team actually) developed a classification system for personalities. It focuses on 4 defining characteristics of a person & how they deal with the world around them. Each individual is assigned a 4-letter code, with 16 possible outcomes. (For those of you that are now doing the math in your head that means that there are two possibilities for each of the 4 characteristics). Make sense? No? Let’s break it down…
Characteristic 1: E vs. I
E = Extrovert. These people like people around and draw energy from their surroundings. (e.g. Pinkie Pie)
I = Introvert, meaning you live most of your life in your head & external stimuli can be exhausting. (e.g. Twilight Sparkle)
Characteristic 2: N vs S
N = Intuitive. Big picture people. They love concepts and imagining the possibilities. (e.g. The Doctor)
S = Sensing. Detail oriented people. They love concrete facts & practical applications. (e.g. River Song)
Characteristic 3: F vs. T
F = Feeling, meaning you make decisions based on how you feel. They are empathetic & want to please others. (e.g. Aria Montgomery)
T = Thinking. These folks value logic, justice and decision-making removed of emotional influence. (e.g. Spencer Hastings)
Characteristic 4: J vs. P
J = Judging. Judgers are planners. They also tend to see things as black or white. (e.g. Ned Stark)
P = Perceiving. Perceivers love the shades of grey that exist in the world. They are more flexible with change & spontaneous. (e.g. Daenerys Targaryen)
Some of the classifications will be obvious to you (for example I know I’m 100% a thinking person) but some will be murkier. I’ve found this test an awesome & simple way to have your code worked out for you: HumanMetrics.com. Once you know your personality type you can read up on it & discover all sorts of things: strengths, weaknesses, personality matches and career options. It is scary accurate. Seriously, I haven’t met anyone who has taken the test and thought the description didn’t fit them 100%.
The best way to really understand any one type is to look at a few examples:
ESFP “The Performer”
(Extrovert – Sensing – Feeling – Perceiving)
This combination of personality traits creates an outgoing, friendly and accepting individual. They are playful and, while they have a practical side that allows them to finish work they care about, they try to make work fun. Highly social by nature, they hate being alone and light up when centre of attention. Spontaneous & adaptable to new environments. Totally all things you would expect from someone who loves people, change and feels plenty of empathy, right?
So who are examples of ESFPs? Hook from Once Upon Time is a great example, or Peter Pan from the classic Disney cartoon. But the textbook case would be the Weasley Twins from Harry Potter. They were driven to make their joke shop, but only because they loved it. And are they ever happier than when everyone is looking at them?
INFP “The Dreamer”
(Introvert – Intuitive – Feeling – Perceiving)
Loyal to their values and to the people who are important to them. Curious, quick to see possibilities and can be the catalyst for implementing ideas. They seek to understand people and help them fulfill their potential. Adaptable, flexible and accepting.
Character examples: Nico from Percy Jackson, Luna from Harry Potter and Frodo from Lord of the Rings. Isn’t that a gaggle of idealists? All they want is love & justice & for all to be perfect… I know you think Nico isn’t because he’s quite moody but you know he’s dreamily hoping for a brighter tomorrow under all of that sass.

Seriously, remember that time Colin O’Donoghue was a hunk in Christina Perri’s new music video? You should…the video for “The Words” just came out yesterday. Or maybe you haven’t seen it yet!?! You need to watch it. It’s a beautiful video, looking like it was shot through a cool-tinted Instagram filter in the Pacific Northwest. Very Twilight…but despite this unfortunate similarity, I love cool weather and the rain and this video captures a mood that you feel in your heart. It really is beautiful…and so is Colin O’Donoghue. He is just so perfect no matter what he is doing. I present the following evidence:

Guys, I’m ashamed to admit it… but I really like ABC Spark shows. They’re pretty much my favourite. They’re adorable and funny and heartwarming and happy and I just adore them. Except for Switched at Birth. I refuse to watch it on principle because it just seems like the worst, and I’m pretty sure I know the entire plot of it just from seeing the previews during other shows each week. Other than that, I’m pretty happy to sit around and binge watch anything from ABC Spark. In fact, I’m still pretty upset about Bunheads being so prematurely cancelled. Despite this, I’m still stuck on a variety of shows from this magical channel.
On that note, Chasing Life is back! Hooray!
This is one of those shows that I didn’t want to watch at all (much like Switched at Birth, actually). I don’t like to watch sad shows, and I thought the cancer thing seemed super cheesy. But it didn’t take long before I was convinced to try it. In fact, it was one simple fact that made me realize I had to watch it:
Scott Michael Foster is in this show. Scott Michael Foster is the best.
In my heart, Scott Michael Foster will always be Cappie, and Cappie is basically the perfect man. If you have no idea what I am talking about, I present to you, Greek – an ABC Spark show from before ABC Spark was a thing! Watching Greek reminds me of my time at university and the ridiculous days spent there. This show is the closest thing I’ve seen to an actual awesome, hilarious, fun, and strange university experience (though there are definitely some parts that are more unlikely than others) and Cappie brings all of that together. No matter what I see Scott Michael Foster in, I always feel like that character has the same personality as Cappie – that of the welcoming, funny, charming underachiever.
And Scott Michael Foster got even better when he was cast as Kristoff in Once Upon A Time! He was absolutely the perfect choice for this role, and I hope to see more of him and the rest of the Arendelle crew at some point in the future…
So basically, with this post I am recommending several things: ABC Spark, Chasing Life, Frozen, Once Upon A Time, Greek, Cappie, and above all, Scott Michael Foster. Total dreamboat!
It’s that time of year and Santa is drawing up his Naughty & Nice list. We’re doing the same here on My Fangirl Life! Keep reading to see who was good this year, and who can expect a lump of coal in their stocking…
She is just the obvious one to start this list because she’s Taylor Swift and she’s possibly the nicest human being in the world. Plus she’s been extra good this year, by gracing us with an excellent new album and steering clear of romantic disasters. In “Mockingjay – Part 1”, out this year, Katniss stepped up to inspire all the common folk of Panem to rise up against the horror and excess of the Capitol. Way to be, Katniss! If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Mockingjay – Part 1: A Review in One Direction.
Because it is delicious! And did you see the killer Twitter account that popped up this fall? Love it!
They’re just so darn angelic… and they’ve announced an upcoming tour, as well as released their new album, Four. Of course they are on the Nice list. If you haven’t heard about their album yet, you can check out our reviews here.
This pony just spreads laughter and happiness and PARTIES wherever she goes – can she really be anywhere other than on the Nice list?
This girl can pretty much do no wrong in my books. Yes, she’s a bit of a savage at times, but she comes by it honestly. And she needs to be strong. All this being said, I’m not at the end of book 5 yet so there could still be some questioning to come. For now, she’s on the Nice list for freeing slaves and being really darn cool about it.
I know, many of you may not know who he is, but he put a picture of Darkwing Duck on his helmet and anything that is reminds us of Darkwing Duck’s awesomeness makes the Nice list as far as I’m concerned.
Now let’s see who is making our My Fangirl Life Naughty list this year!
Yeah… I don’t even think I need to rationalize this one. “A” is always causing mischief and committing murders, as well as tormenting those poor Pretty Little Liars.
Despite the fact that she didn’t do any of it on purpose, it was her fault that Arendelle was under an eternal winter, so we do need to take that into account. Not to mention, she brought us “Let It Go”, which this year was impossible to escape. Haven’t heard enough of it yet? Check out our post Let It Go is Christmas Music, Right?
I mean, I can never really hold anything against Peeta, but his hands around Katniss’s throat most definitely put him on the Naughty side of this list.
Smaug is pretty solidly on the naughty list, but what specifically landed him here was burning down Lake-town in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
Red Wedding. I’m still not over it. Not sure I ever will be. I’m only reading these books now so despite the fact that this may have happened long ago for some of you, it still warrants inclusion on this list.

Why Once Upon A Time? WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
In case you haven’t guessed there be spoilers ahead.
I do not understand why Once Upon A Time insists on ruining everything that I love. Every single time. Fall in love with Sheriff Graham. He dies. Settle for August. He becomes a child. Against my better judgement allow Neal to wooo me. And he disappears forever. But this time…this time…they’ve gone too far. I ended my last blog post about Once Upon a Time, the one about how I Fear for the Hunks of Once Upon a Time, with the following line:
“Let’s agree to hide Robin Hood, Kristoff and Will Scarlett until the makers of OUAT agree that good-looking men are not disposable.”
Why didn’t we listen? WHHHYYYY???????
It’s not okay.
Robin Hood is gone and not only have we lost the second dreamiest man in Storybrooke (Thank God Hook is still alive!) but my OTP just died. I talked about it in my Top 5 OTPs. Outlaw Queen is meant to be. And since then my obsession with this pairing has only grown. Grown and flourished with the happiness that seemed inevitable on the show.
I can’t even.
Keep holding on fellow fangirls. Hopefully this isn’t the end.
