Hello internet friends! I hope you are all having a magical summer. We have not been posting quite as much as we would like due to a variety of events (including a moderate addiction to Pokemon Go) but I wanted to write a quick note to let you know what we’ve been up to. Our team is still here, with creative content ideas on the back burner… real life has just been a bit in the way. We’ll be back in full force soon, but in the meantime, here’s what we’ve been doing with our summer vacation.
I’m a self-employed event planner (you check me out at KristinGlassEvents.com) and since this is my full-time gig, it’s needed some heavy focus in the past few months. I hope to pull in a few larger projects for the fall and winter, so I’ve been getting involved in the event industry and working towards that. I also have a few weddings to attend this summer/fall, one of which has already happened and 3 of which are still to come. Two of these take place within a few days of each other, in completely different parts of the world (Hawaii and rural Alberta, Canada) but I’m going to make it to both. I am in the bridal party for the Hawaiian wedding and I am heading over this Thursday for that event! In addition to this, I was in Nashville in June, and Whitehorse, Yukon (my hometown) just the other weekend. Needless to say, I have been stretched a little thin… but I’m going to refocus and reorganize when I’m back from Hawaii, and I’ll start to put more things on paper for you, promise!
Justine has been caught up in a whirlwind of job searching, applying, and interviewing. As some of your may know, she finished her Master’s degree in December and is currently on the hunt for employment in her field. I’m sure you can relate to the search for what you want to do with your life… It can be overwhelming! On top of this, she’s recently moved to a new place… still just a few minutes from where Kris and I live, but in a different direction. We like that she didn’t go too far from us ?
Kris has been sent to work in a fly in/fly out situation, living at camp up north. She is supposed to be on a 10 day on, 4 day off schedule, but so far has been working far more than that. When she calculates it all down, she ends up with approx 1 free hour per day, and she works every single day she is up there. Kris definitely loves her job when she’s working on site, but it’s tough for her to be away from home so much. Hopefully she’ll be back regularly again this fall and can get into a real life schedule.
But this is no excuse…
Between all of this, plus whatever best friend time we’ve been able to squeeze in, life has been hectic. Good, but certainly hectic. This is no excuse for ignoring this little online community we’ve built, so we do apologize about that. We’re still here if you want to talk, so feel free to send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a comment below! We hope you’ll stick around… and don’t worry, I’m starting to pump out the new content already.
Hope you’re having a fab summer vacation too!
