It happened this week: the Pretty Little Liars Season 6 finale. And it was crazy… as always. We’re left feeling bad for Ali yet again – that girl just cannot catch a break! If you remember, our team is pretty into this show. We’re big enough fans to dedicate a whole week to it and Shadowhunters when they both premiered in January. We’ve written a plethora of posts about Pretty Little Liars; it’s one of our favourite things to discuss, which makes it the perfect thing to watch together. Today I’m not going to recap or review the episode, although I will discuss it; what I really want to talk about is how Pretty Little Liars is one of my favourite shows to watch with friends.
There are some spoilers ahead, so be warned! According to our spoiler guide, I have to let you know not to continue if you haven’t watched the episode.
I started watching PLL as a guilty pleasure show a couple years ago, and Kris was soon to follow. We each binge watched 3 or 4 seasons on our own, and were just bursting to discuss things! Of course, by the time Kris got around to watching it all, I was so far ahead that I was afraid to discuss plot points with her for fear of mixing something up and giving away a surprise. No one wants spoilers, especially in a show with as many twists and turns as this one.
Justine followed close behind and got super obsessed with Pretty Little Liars last summer. Like possibly the most obsessed any of us had been. I believe she watched 5 seasons of the show in less than a month… and 10 days of that involved a road trip to the Yukon, where not much TV watching happened (except on her laptop in the backseat of Kris’ car).
So obviously, once we were all caught up, we immediately started watching Pretty Little Liars together, because it’s just one of those shows. How much fun is it to yell at the characters when they’re doing something dumb (which is basically all the time), or all scream when something terrifying happens? This show is absolutely perfect for that. So even now, every week, we watch together – and in the dark.
And last night, I did an audio recording of our viewing party, which I’m going to share hilarious clips of below! Here are some of our reactions to big moments during the Pretty Little Liars season 6 finale.
