Goodbye 2015! Hello 2016! Out with the old and in with the new. A new year is a great time to look forward: making plans, resolutions, and changes (don’t worry, we’ll share our fandom resolutions in the days to come), but the new year is also a time for reflection. Let’s all take a chance to reflect on the good we saw last year. The amazing opportunities we had. The chances we took. The lessons we learned. My Fangirl Life saw its first full year of operation; our little blog is a year old… they grow up so fast! Today we’ll take a walk down memory lane and see some of the highlights of 2015 in My Fangirl Life‘s Year in Review.
In the World
It’s a great big world out there and we tried to explore it a bit this year… even if it was just the online world…
Social Media: What were our Social Media highlights of the year? Interacting with Bachelor stars, obviously! We have been loving chatting with various members of the Bachelor Family via Twitter. We also started a new campaign inspired by an amazing Christmas present: a Harry Styles cardboard cutout! See what Harry gets up to with #HarryoftheDay. Find us at @Fangirls_Online!
Online: One of the best part of blogging is the online community. There are so many other bloggers out there who want to chat, help you out, or just generally be your friends! We treasure these friendships and interactions, down to the smallest comment! Two great blogs we had the privilege of working with were Gingerbread Sagas and Tipsy Verse; click the images below to check them out as well as the guest posts we provided! We also worked with the online shop Hot Dame, sampling their awesome products. Our new Friends of My Fangirl Life page includes a lot of other people, sites & products we ❤️.
Live: The My Fangirl Life Team stepped away from their computer screens later in the year to try act as nerd-experts for some local media outlets. We have appeared on the 6pm CTV News Edmonton, CBC Radio Edmonton, and JACK fm Vancouver on more than one occasion. It’s been so much fun stepping out of our comfort zones of the internet and sharing our passion with our community! Click the pics below to hear/see some of our interviews!
On the Blog
But what about activity on our blog? In the last year we have put out a lot of posts we are very proud of. We’ve also seen some additions of pages and contributors!
People: Late in 2014 My Fangirl Life grew from one writer to a collaboration of 3 best friends. Now, over the course of 2015 we grew again, more than doubling in size! We now boast a team of 7 contributors!
Pages: We were excited to add a few standards to our blog this year. I know guidelines don’t sound like fun but we were happy to provide useful information to our readers using (a) our My Fangirl Life Rating System – which rates movies, books, music, etc. out of 10 Feels… using emojis! (b) our My Fangirl Life Spoiler Guide – which lays out when it’s ok to talk about the newest movies in theatres, books on the shelves and shows on tv, and (c) our Fangirl Glossary – a collection of terms to help you understand us and your family members understand you… when you slip into fangirl-speak.
Posts: All of us on the My Fangirl Life Team love to write, especially about our favourite fandoms! In 2015 we published over 300 blog posts and saw our viewer stats per day increase by over 3 times (versus 2014). We’re pretty proud of that! If you are curious about our favourites you can check out the My Fangirl Life 2015 Blog Awards, where the team picked our favourite content in multiple categories
Happy New Year Readers! We are excited for 2016 and hope you are too! And sound off in the comments with our 2015 accomplishments & memories and 2016 plans! We’d love to hear from you ?
Love & Luck,
Kris & the My Fangirl Life Team
