Our friend Kristy is a big fan of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, and she’s going to be writing episode recaps for your enjoyment all season long. Today she’s here to share her thoughts on Season 3 Episode 6! In case you want to catch up on any of her previous fangirl recaps, you can check them all out here.
Welcome back to another review of Agents of SHIELD!
I’ll be missing next week’s review, as I’m going on a short vacay! *whoot whoot*, but the MFL team is going to cover it for me! Then check back the following week and I will have returned!
Summary: Bobbi and May make the best duo ever, we finally get some backstory on Rosalind and THAT REVEAL THO. 😳
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. Be warned.
You know sometimes when you’re watching an episode and so much has happened that you’re thinking, wow…the episode must almost be over, but then you look at the clock and only 15 minutes have passed? Yeah, that was this episode. Lots of stuff happened. But this is where we begin:
So not to anyone’s surprise…Andrew is alive! 😅 Obviously that moment when we all thought he was dead was absolutely horrifying, (I was also super upset at Hunter 😠) then we took a good few minutes to think about it like…nah, it’s the Whedons and we didn’t see his face 😤. And sure enough, he is alive. At this point in the episode, we didn’t know THAT REVEAL YET 😳. But as he’s telling the story of how he survived…something felt off. That’s something SHIELD has been consistently good at doing. They plant the tiniest seeds of doubt in your mind, let it sit and fester, without fully being sure why. And this is what happened to me throughout the screen time we had with Andrew this episode. I was already aware of a few theories floating around, speculating that Andrew was Lash. And I didn’t believe them, not even the tiniest bit. But with subtle acting perfection from Blair Underwood (Andrew), the thought started to fester. The more I thought about it, the more obvious it became.
Holy toledo, I absolutely LOVED the Bobbi/May duo that was going on this episode. 😎😎 They played wonderfully off each other. Initially, when I thought May was actually blaming Bobbi for Andrew almost dying, I was pretty darn upset, then when I realized it was all a test I was pumped. Bobbi and May have consistently been two absolutely awesome ass-kicking females that are portrayed so well. They’re complex individuals, and having SHIELD feature the strength of these women not just physically, but mentally as well, has been a highlight. They’re going after Ward and with a vengeance. Let me also say, even though FitzSimmons weren’t a highlight of this episode, I was delighted to see Fitz work behind the scenes with Bobbi and May, feeding them information. He seems to have graduated from just the ‘tech’ guy, to now the hacker, informant, or “eyes of the operation” if you will.
Daisy, Hunter and Mack are trying to trying to figure out what Rosalind’s game is. And figure it out they do. Unfortunately, from Daisy’s point of view, it looks bad…very bad. Basically, she’s putting inhumans in temporary stasis until they find a cure (which I honestly don’t think there is), to protect them from the world, and protect the world from them. Even though it may not be by the nicest means, I understand her reasoning. She’s trying to protect as many people as possible. But from Daisy’s point of view, it looks as if Rosalind is locking them up like cattle, submitting them to life in a cage. It’s not a pretty situation, and I’m assuming since Daisy figured out this information by being a super sleuth, she can’t exactly talk to Coulson about it. But I’m guessing she’ll be pretty distant with him for the time being…until they hash it out.
As for Rosalind, we FINALLY got some back story on that woman. Some much needed humanism was given to her, and we’ve been told that her husband died. After watching this episode, my whole attitude towards Rosalind has changed, as I’ve now realized she’s not as bad as she seems (for the time being). She’s simply a woman who tragically lost her husband, and is trying to prevent people from losing others close to them as well. I really like Rosalind now, and I’m curious to see how the relationship between her and Coulson plays out. They have an interesting work dynamic and there’s obviously a very strong chemistry there. 💏
Simmons is desperate to find Will, and Fitz is amazingly on board with the whole thing. He should honestly win friend of the year. (I’d personally like to say boyfriend of the year…but one can dream 😍) The reason I bring up FitzSimmons, is after Simmons thanked Fitz for helping, Fitz pulled up a secret search he had done on Will. He is very much a real man, and in all honesty seems a little too perfect. Will had mentioned in the previous episode that he wasn’t too sciency of a person. But in Fitz’s search, it clearly says that he was President of the Science club, and head of the Astrophysics department. Not sciency? Yeah right. Something’s up again. 🤔 And I think Fitz is going to find out what.
I can’t even describe what I was feeling during THAT REVEAL. 😳 THAT WAS TOO INTENSE. I mean, I knew it was a possibility, and I mentioned earlier that throughout the episode I started to actually believe Andrew was Lash…BUT STILL. NOTHING PREPARED ME FOR THAT. I was still so shocked beyond belief. I actually have no idea what that means for the team. 😳😳😳😳😳
- Why does he want to kill Lincoln?
- Why did he spare Daisy?
- WHY IS HE EVIL?!?!?!
- HOW LONG HAS HE BEEN LASH?! HAS HE ALWAYS BEEN LASH? OR IS HE A NEWLY TURNED INHUMAN?!?! 😈👹😈👹😈
I can’t wait for next week. It looks as if the team finds out about him. It’s not going to be pretty.
Also….who is this?!?!
Ciao for now,
