The other day I posted about our Princess Picnic in the Park, and today I will be sharing a recipe with you from that picnic. Since I was dressed as Briar Rose, I figured it was fitting to bring along Princess Pink Popcorn, which is made with Flora’s special recipe.
As I mentioned in my previous post, this recipe is from The Disney Princess Cookbook, which Justine picked up at Disney World. This is like a real cookbook with actual recipes, directions, and even party menus! We chose our own menu of items we thought would travel well for our picnic. If you need a refresher, here it is:
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for. Here is the recipe for Princess Pink Popcorn!
This will serve 3-4 princesses (or, you know, normal people…).
Bag of popped microwave popcorn (about 6 cups) – We used fresh popped popcorn, not microwave
2 1/2 Tbsp butter
18 large marshmallows
3 Tbsp strawberry-flavoured gelatin powder – We used less than this and it was still very flavourful!
1) Put the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels.
2) Ask an adult to help you at the stove. Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continually until they melt and turn into a smooth sauce. Stir in the strawberry gelatine powder. Use a plastic spoon for this step (the pink gelatin can stain a wooden spoon).
3) Immediately pour the pink marshmallow over the popcorn and gently stir to evenly cover the kernels.
4) Let the popcorn cool for a few minutes before serving.
This snack is easy and delicious. I packed it into mason jars to transport to the picnic and it worked perfectly. Princess Pink Popcorn was a great picnic recipe!
