Fifth Harmony released their new album Reflection this week. I have been following 5H since they were first put together on the X-Factor a few years ago, so I have naturally been looking forward to this album since it was announced. I am a big fan of their catchy hooks, fun lyrics, and absolutely beautiful harmonies. In light of that, today I’d like to share with you my personal reviews of each song in 140 characters or less – you know, tweetable. Let’s get started!
Track #1 – “Top Down”: I love the urban beats & catchy melodic hooks 5H has pursued on this album. They are definitely hard to ignore & this is a good example.
Track #3 – “Sledgehammer”: I was in love with this song long before the album came out. This is a look at what you classically expect from 5H. Beautiful, real & fun.
Track #4 – “Worth It” (feat. Kid Ink): Ohh catchy! Wasn’t sure the first time I heard it but the chorus just plays over and over in my head. #babyimworthit
Track #5 – “This Is How We Roll”: I think this is one of my favourites on the album. I love the beat and the frantic pace of the verses.
Track #6 – “Everlasting Love”: This song has a nice flowing melody but it seems to lack some of the substance the other tracks have – seems too idealistic when compared.
Track #7 – “Like Mariah” (feat. Tyga): The chorus ends up running through my head as well. I didn’t like the title at first but changed my mind after a listen or 2. It’s fun.
Track #8 – “Them Girls Be Like”: I really like the clickity-clack noise that is used here. As Kris put it, “I both LOVE and HATE this song at the same time”.
Track #9 – “Reflection”: I think the “Mirror mirror” part of this song is the absolute best. The rest of it is fun, funky and upbeat.
Track #10: “Suga Mama”: I can’t handle this song based almost solely on the title. “Sugar Mama”? Really?????
Track #11 – “We Know”: I really like this one. The harmonies are more apparent & that’s what I love about 5H. I also like the song’s premise.
In a nutshell, this album is full of catchy, fun, upbeat tunes. It won’t be everyday listening for me, but it’s something I will have a lot of fun rocking out to when I’m in the right mood. What are your favourite tracks? Share in the comments!
